Royal watcher's 'sadness' at funeral
Royal Watcher Doris Hopson
Doris Hopson was disappointed by the turnout
Among the crowds gathered in Windsor for the funeral of Princess Margaret was Royal watcher Doris Hopson.

The 69-year-old, from Northolt in Middlesex, told BBC News Online how she felt about the occasion.

I have always been a Royalist. I felt I had the time to come here today to pay my last respects.

I thought there would be a bigger turnout. It's such a sad day.

I went to Kensington Gardens when Princess Diana died.

I thought there would be a bigger turnout

Doris Hopson
She was such a young beautiful girl who did a lot for Britain and brought a sparkle to the Royal Family.

Princess Margaret had a good life and enjoyed herself.

She didn't seem to have the same dedication as the rest of the Royal Family.

I'm 70 this year and I grew up with the royals.

I remember when George VI was crowned there were street parties and celebrations in the East End where I lived.

Esteem for Queen

People were very very tuned in to the Royal Family. They are figureheads of our country.

Looking around there seems to be more people of my generation. We still hold the Queen in high esteem. She does a grand job.

The Royal Family are very important.

My grandmother used to talk about how Queen Mary went to the East End.

It will be very sad too when the Queen Mother goes.

I am a bit disappointed though that more people are not here today.
