Police have finished searching the house of entertainer Michael Barrymore after looking for forensic clues into the murder of Stuart Lubbock.

The search of Mr Barrymore's Essex home, which began after police received new information, was completed at 2100BST on Thursday.

Items removed from the premises will now be sent for forensic analysis and inquiries will continue

Mr Lubbock, 31, was found dead in the pool at the star's home in March this year.

Mr Barrymore, 49, is on bail after being arrested on suspicion of drugs offences. Two other men have been bailed on suspicion of murder.

A police scientific support unit van had been at Mr Barrymore's home since Wednesday.

Detectives and forensic officers searched inside and outside the bungalow.

"Items removed from the premises will now be sent for forensic analysis and inquiries will continue," a police spokesman said.

Mr Barrymore left the house on Thursday morning while police continued the detailed searches.

It has been stressed that the search was in relation to the murder investigation, and not any drugs charges.

Mr Lubbock, a butchery worker from Harlow and father-of-two, died at the bungalow on 31 March.

Mr Barrymore went to an Essex police station on Wednesday to have his bail conditions extended to October.

His solicitor David Corker insisted his client was not being investigated in connection with any murder inquiry.

The two men arrested on suspicion of murder were also bailed by police on Wednesday.

One of them is John Kenney, 31, from Blackpool, a close friend of Mr Barrymore. The other is Justin Merrit, 26, from Harlow.

Mr Barrymore was arrested in June on suspicion of possession and supply of a Class B drug, possession of a Class A drug, and allowing premises to be used for the taking of a Class B drug.

An inquest into Mr Lubbock's death has been opened.

A post mortem examination revealed he had drowned and the results of toxicology tests on his body are being assessed.

Mr Barrymore arrived back in Britain on Monday from the United States after having treatment at a rehabilitation clinic in Arizona.
