Police to release more riot photos
Suspects
Police in riot-hit Bradford have said they will publish more photographs of youths believed to have been involved in the disturbances.

More than 300 police officers were injured in a night of violence and firebombing in the city on 7 July, which left many homes, properties and cars badly damaged.

Police started their drive to bring those responsible to justice earlier this week by releasing 20 photographs of alleged culprits as well as shocking video footage.

The response was dramatic with more than 200 callers contacting a special incident room and four men turning themselves in.

The four Bradford men were a 16-year-old from the West Park area, a 26-year-old from Girlington, an 18-year-old from West Bowling and a 19-year-old from Little Horton.

They were all arrested in connection with violent disorder offences, interviewed and released on police bail pending further inquiries.

'Wanted' posters

The next batch of photos will be released on Friday by investigation boss, Detective Chief Superintendent Max McLean.

Posters displaying the photographs will be on display in police stations across West Yorkshire and in Centenary Square, in Bradford, as part of the Target Initiative, West Yorkshire Police's biggest crackdown on crime.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "More than 300 crimes were committed on the evening of July 7 ranging from criminal damage, arson, assaults on police officers, to robbery, racial assaults and violence."

The footage of the riots shows officers lying on the floor injured, missiles and petrol bombs being hurled at the police and cars set on fire.

A team of 60 detectives has studied hours of film shot from a police helicopter in addition to officers with video cameras on the ground and the media.

Police have already arrested 35 people in connection with the riots.

One person has already been convicted, 28 have been charged with various public order offences and are now in the court system, a further five are on police bail and one person has been cautioned.

The incident room number is on 01274 376915 or the Urdu speaking language line on 01274 376916.
