Pearce survives collision with lorry
Stuart Pearce celebrates scoring a penalty in Euro 96
The Newcastle United footballer Stuart Pearce avoided serious injury after a lorry overturned in a country lane on top of his car.
The lorry landed with its wheels on the roof of his car.
Mr Pearce had managed to leave his vehicle by the time fire crews arrived.
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire Service said "Mr Pearce had a very lucky escape."
He was discharged from Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre after being treated for back pains and minor injuries to his hand.
The driver of the lorry suffered head injuries.
