Two men are being questioned in connection with an investigation into money laundering after a raided on the most expensive house in Britain.

Updown Court at Windlesham in Surrey has 30 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, five swimming pools, a bowling alley and cinema and is valued at £70m.

Customs and Excise, Surrey Police and members of the National Crime Squad joined forces for a dawn raid on the property on Thursday.

The mansion was bought earlier this month by the Sultan of Malaysia, Crown Prince Abdullah, but a Customs and Excise spokeswoman said the raid had nothing to do with him.

Limousines

The spokeswoman said the raid was in connection with money laundering, but would not reveal any further information about the operation.

"Two British men were arrested and are being questioned," she added.

The mansion is set in 90 acres and has a winding drive made of the world's most expensive marble which also has underground heating to stop it freezing.

The underground car park has space for nine limousines.

When it was up for sale, Sheikh Mohammed al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and racehorse owner, was reportedly interested in the property.

The Hollywood stars Bruce Willis and Demi Moore were also said to have been interested.

It is thought the property will cost £1m a year to maintain.
