Joanne Lees, 27, and her boyfriend Peter Falconio, 28, were attacked near Alice Springs by a man who flagged down their camper van in a remote stretch of the Australian outback.

Joanne managed to escape from her attacker and raise the alarm, but police are continuing to search for Peter, who was shot during the ambush.
