Air crashes claim four more lives

A microlight pilot and his passenger were killed when their aircraft came down in fields while the pilot and passenger of a light aircraft that crashed have also died.

The microlight crashed on Sunday morning in fields near Louth in Lincolnshire.

Ambulance crews were called but both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquiry has been launched into the cause of the crash.

The light aircraft came down in a field close to Alton in Hampshire just before 1800 BST having issued a Mayday call 15 minutes earlier.

It is thought the plane had been heading for an emergency landing strip.

Both accidents came on the same day that an air ambulance crashed in Kent, claiming three lives.
