Picture Gallery: Royal Garter procession
Crowds gathered at Windsor Castle on Monday for one of the most colourful ceremonies in the royal calendar, the annual Order of the Garter procession.

The highest order of chivalry in Britain, the Most Noble Order of the Garter was founded by Edward III in 1348 and is limited to 25 companion knights and the Sovereign.

The procession leads to St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, where a service is held each year to ordain new Knights of the Garter.
