Nipping to teashop bash
Nippies were so called because of the speed at which they worked
A number of women once known as "Nippies" are due to attend a special reunion.
More than 100 former Lyons tea shop waitresses - who earned the "Nippy" nickname because of the speed at which they worked - are to be honoured by the company.
But the company is still making cakes and celebrating its 90th anniversary.
To mark the occasion it has arranged for its "Nippies" to London from across the globe for the get-together.
The oldest "Nippie" due to attend the party on Wednesday is 106-year-old Mary Clark.
Many of her former colleagues are now over 75.
The event also marks the relaunch of Lyons' range of cakes.
Cake boxes now sport images of the "Nippies" along with information about the famous Corner Houses.
