Rosie's parents and brother arrive for the service
The funeral service has taken place of 16-year-old Rosemarie Ross, who was stabbed to death as she sunbathed in Birmingham city centre.

Hundreds of mourners gathered to celebrate her life at a special service of thanksgiving.

Rosemarie left instructions for her funeral in a will she wrote less than a year before her death.

In it, she said: "I want you to know I'm happy. I may have gone but I will live on."

Inderjit Kainth, 44, from Handsworth, Birmingham, was remanded in custody on Monday charged with her murder.

Rosemarie died hours after she was attacked in busy Centenary Square on 12 May.

She was stabbed as she sunbathed lying on a wall with a friend in the middle of the day.

The teenager had been due to take her GCSE exams this summer at her school in Aldridge, near Walsall, before going to art college.

Friends, family, police officers and wellwishers packed into Aldridge Parish Church for the service.

David Bignell, head boy at Rosie's school, read out extracts from the will she had written and which she called advice and her "philosophy on life".

It said: "If you believe in yourself, you can do anything, it doesn't matter what people tell you, have faith, be patient, you'll see what I mean.

"Also, never stop trying to achieve your goal. Stay focused, stay happy and you'll find what you are looking for in your heart.

"I hope I made a permanent impression on you and that it will never fade away."
