Picture gallery: May Day clean-up
A clean-up operation is under way after violence broke out at anti-capitalist demonstrations in London.

The protest began peacefully but descended into violence after dark as a group of militants smashed shop fronts.

Some protesters also tried to set fire to a Tesco store.
