Husband buys Bond car on impulse
![]() Helen Reid: Licensed to drive
Max Reid went one better than flowers for Valentine's Day by splashing out on a classic James Bond car for his wife.
The computer entrepreneur paid £157,750 for the 1965 car, last seen on screen being driven by Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye. He said: "I bought the car for two reasons - it's a great present for my wife and it will be used for promotion purposes in my business. "Everybody dreams of being a James Bond character some time."
She said: "I was quite speechless when I saw the car and realised this is the car that Pierce Brosnan sat in and drove in the film GoldenEye. "I think Max is romantic but in a quiet, reserved sort of way. This is not reserved!" As well as using the car to boost business, Mr Reid is planning to use its celebrity status to raise money for charity. He said: "I'm not the flowers and tickets to Paris type but I suppose I would class myself as a romantic now."
