Murder charge over dismembered body
Richard Markham
Richard Markham was arrested in Central Park
A furniture dealer arrested in New York has appeared before magistrates in Basingstoke charged with murdering 25-year-old Tristian Lovelock.

Richard Markham, 27, was remanded in custody to appear at crown court on 21 June.

Mr Markham, of St Nicholas Court, Basingstoke was arrested in New York's Central Park on 5 June and escorted back to the UK by police on Friday.

Mr Lovelock, a father-of-two, was last seen alive on 29 May.

Mr Markham spoke only to confirm his name and address. No application for bail was made.

The body parts of Tristian Lovelock were found on 1 June scattered around a housing estate in Basingstoke.

A post-mortem examination showed he died after a blow from a blunt instrument.
