Police search for frog attackers
Frog
About 30 frogs were killed by the gang
A gang of youths have been caught on camera fishing 30 frogs from a Northamptonshire school pond and stamping them to death.

The group of up to six youngsters also beat some with a log on the playground at Windmill Primary School in Raunds, near Wellingborough.

Schoolchildren were due to start a project at the pond after returning from the Easter break.

Teacher Sandy Wills said: "It's revolting. Dead frogs are lying all over the playground."

'Utmost cruelty'

Police are now examining CCTV footage from eight cameras around the school.

It shows the youths scooping up the frogs with plastic bags at 1425 BST on Monday.

Netting protecting the pond had been ripped off, and a panel at the swimming pool was damaged.

PC Fiona Griffiths of Northamptonshire Police said: "This was an utterly disgusting incident with the utmost cruelty.

"I appeal to anyone who was in the area who thinks they may have seen anything to contact us."

A spokesman for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals condemned the incident as "extreme and unnecessary cruelty".
