Apple's iPad touchscreen computer given once-over

Apple has launched a touchscreen tablet called the iPad, which can be used to watch films, play games and browse the web.

It is not the first such device on the market, with competitors Dell and HP showing off similar ideas at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

But Apple believes its advantage lies in the ability to synchronise information and thousands of apps between the iPad and iPhone.

Maggie Shiels was given a once-over of the new toy.
