Military vehicles strip down

Strippable paints are being used to quickly change the colour of military vehicles used in combat zones.

Applied like normal paint, the special coating can be easily stripped off when a new camouflage is required.

Now scientists at the Defence Science Technology Laboratory (DSTL) are developing coatings which will absorb chemical, biological and radiological agents, protecting the vehicle and those inside.

In the future, the paint could decontaminate the vehicle itself and change colour automatically.
