Nintendo continues to dominate the UK video game chart, reflecting its resurgence in the industry.

Eight of the top 10 selling games of the last week are exclusive titles for Nintendo's Wii or DS handheld console.

The other two titles in the all-price chart are multi-format games, which can also be played on Nintendo's machines.

All-platform title Transformers, based on the movie, held on to the number one spot, with DS title Pokemon Diamond at number two and Wii Play third.

Nintendo's Wii has been the success story of the current generation of console hardware, shipping more than 9.27 million globally since it was launched last year.

Microsoft has shipped more than 10 million Xbox 360 consoles, but the machine went on sale a year earlier than the Wii.

The Wii is expected to overtake sales of the Xbox 360 imminently. Sony has sold 4.1 million PlayStation 3 consoles.

Nintendo's DS handheld console is the global market leader, with more than 45 million sold since it was introduced in 2004.

Other titles in the UK top 10 include Brain Training, More Brain Training Pokemon Pearl and Cooking Mama on the DS, and Mario Party 8 on the Wii.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the remaining multi-format title in the chart.
