The 54th Cannes Film festival is now well under way, featuring films from across the globe that will compete for the prestigious Palme d'Or. Writer and director John McCormack's Daddyfox, which screens on Sunday, is a psychological thriller based on a true story. It has a relentless pace, and tells a powerful and haunting story. He says he has lived a "double life" as a producer/director and a fireman, making low-budget commercials and doing corporate work and three documentaries. But in 1998 he resigned from the fire service after 19 years and went into production with his first feature film, The Van Boys. What does he hope to achieve from being at Cannes? Does he hope to go to America? What advice does he have for other budding film makers? John McCormack answered your questions on all aspects of film making and the Cannes Film Festival. |
