BBC3 is in the early stages of researching a programme about younger people living in rural areas. We are very keen to hear from teenagers and people in their early 20s living in rural communities across Britain who feel that they have been affected by the recession.
According to the Commission for Rural Communities there were 9.8 million people living in rural areas of England in 2008.
The recession has hit people in rural areas harder than their urban counterparts.
While overall unemployment rates are lower in rural than urban areas, there is a steeper rise in the number of people claiming Job Seekers' Allowance in rural districts.
We would like to hear about your social life, your experiences with housing, transport, education and employment. Are you struggling to find work? Do you feel hindered because you live in a rural area?
Thank you for your contributions.
