Britain's beaches: Clean enough?

British beach chairs

With the great British summer upon us and forecasters saying we are due for some warm, sunny weather this year, the BBC is looking for your thoughts on the state of the UK's beaches.

Are you happy to take a dip in the water? Or are you appalled by the state of the beaches near you?

Have you found anything particularly unsavoury on a recent visit to the seaside, or have you or someone in your family fallen ill with a upset stomach or an ear infection after swimming in the water?

If so, we'd like to hear from you as we take stock of the state of Britain's beaches as the temperature climbs and people all over the country prepare for their long-awaited summer holidays.

In addition to your comments, we welcome your pictures of the state of Britain's beaches. Please use the form below to contact us. Your details will not be published but you might be contacted by a BBC researcher, so please remember to include a contact number or email address.

Send your pictures to yourpics@bbc.co.uk or text them to 61124. If you have a large file you can upload here . Read the terms and conditions .
