Your birthday greetings to Prince William
Prince William celebrates his 18th birthday this week. So far the future king has been shielded from the intense curiosity of the world's media.
But as he enters adulthood he is bound to attract more attention and controversy.
What are your hopes for his future? What birthday message would you like to send him?
Send your greetings to the young prince as he comes of age. We will pass on a selection of them to him to wish him well on his special day.
This birthday tribute page is now closed. Read a selection of your greetings to Prince William below.
May you have the peace to become who you wish. May you have the strength to rise to the challenges we all must face throughout life. May you have the introspective ability to cherish the quiet moments. May you have the insight to remember the "common man" - that is all of us. May you find great happiness as you embark on your journey that is life. Happy birthday! Take care.
Happy birthday Prince William. Wishing you laughter and joy.
I think you should do what some other rulers have done in history. Find yourself a good disguise and celebrate your birthday wandering around London's pubs and clubs. You'll probably love it!
A very happy birthday. I bet you're a son any mother could be proud off.
It is commendable to see you're studying on a day when most young men would throw caution to the wind!
Happy birthday! Prince in shining armour!
Happy 18th birthday William! I'm sure you'll have a great time!!
Prince William, may you have an 18th birthday to remember. You have the strength, courage, charisma and wisdom inherited from both your parents to lead a nation. May you be the best King, England ever had!

A very happy birthday, William.
We all love you as you are, so be yourself and keep smiling.
As you enter adulthood, being a future king really is a great responsibility that you are going to face as time comes nearer and nearer. Being 18 years old is still early and you're still young to face it all, for the meantime relax and enjoy yourself. Long live the future King of England.
Steve Foley, England
You represent everything that should be right about this country, but that sadly is in decline. I am near your age and you are a great, positive role model to so many others and myself. I admire your courtesy, your tolerance and level-headedness, but also your wish to 'blend in' with society and stand up against the constant and ugly press intrusion. I wish you all the best for the future and look forward to the day when you will be our King. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! Wow - 18. I know how that feels. I am also 18. Even though I do not know you, I know how I feel as an 18-year-old, and you must have some of the same feelings. I admire you for the way you handle your celebrity status and still deal with the pressures of growing up. I know you'll do wonderfully in life, as King or not. Life is a sport, play hard.
Shirley Wales, Canada
I have lived the same life your Mum has, only not as famous. I married one week after she did in the same year, I have two boys, one your age, and one younger, and I've encountered marital problems, leading to divorce. I can really relate to her and I really admired her strength. All the best on your eighteenth birthday. Have fun!
Happy 18th Birthday Prince William. Hope you have a great gap year and I hope the media gives you the privacy you desire.
Good luck mate.
Good luck in adulthood and don't let people get to you.
Have a very happy birthday, and make sure you do what you want to do, not what "advisors" say. You are what you are, and no one can change you or your life. I am much younger than you (15), I hope you will lead every person in the UK to a good monarchy when you heir to the throne, and so will millions around the world.
A very happy 18th birthday to you. Have fun and celebrate the whole year, because when you become king, the parties will be working ones and most likely boring.
Susan Schlesinger, Germany
Take some time from your studies to relax and enjoy YOUR day.
We are all so proud, here in Toronto, of the fine young man you
are becoming. Your mother's light shines through you.
She will always watch over you and guide you.
Always be true to yourself and listen to what's
in your heart, and you can never
As you enter adulthood I pray that God will give you wisdom to lead your country just as he did for King Soloman in Bible times.
Yin Fan, Malaysia
Have a great 18th birthday, and many happy returns of the day.
A very happy birthday to you. Your mother would have been so proud of you. May God bless you and your brother and keep you both safe.
Happy birthday William, may the Lord bless you always. Live your life to the fullest. We all love you here in the Far East.
Happy birthday and don't do anything I wouldn't do.
Good luck in the last of your exams
We in Toronto want to wish you a very happy 18th birthday. My grandmother is also celebrating her birthday on June 21. I am also 18 years old and I admire you for being so humble and down to earth. I know your mother, Princess Diana is always watching and guiding you in everything you do. I hope you will share your good fortune with less fortunate teenagers in the world.
Stick to your guns, William, and don't let the media run your life.
Cheryl Mays, England
I would like to wish you a very happy 18th birthday and many, many more. You have turned into a good young man and everyone here is proud of you and want only the very best the world has to offer for you.
I feel that I am more fortunate than you, though I am handicapped, because I have my whole family to celebrate with me. Always treasure what you have now. All what I can say is belated birthday to you.
Remember that you should take care of yourself more than anyone else, You are one of the greatest symbols for millions all over the world, all will be watching you, may God fill you with His blessings and love.
I've been very happily married now for 6 years, and really that is the best thing I can wish you. No amount of privilege, power, or wealth can ever compare with love. Find someone you truly love, and just be happy.
Happy Birthday! I'll be thinking about you, as I always do on our birthday :)
Rachelle Garcia, USA (formerly Northampton UK)
May all your wishes come true.
Dear Prince William
Here is wishing you the very best for your birthday! Have fun and don't let a bunch of 'busy bodies' rob you of it! Blessings!
Dave Adams, USA
I hope he has the courage to get a real job and a real life, and refuses to participate in the sad freakshow which much of the rest of the Royal Family has become.
I hope you find all the happiness and love in your future. You are the image of your mother and she would be very proud of you. As a Royal you will be living your life on the world stage, but hopefully if you let the media into your life for an update at appropriate intervals they won't hound you like they did your mother. I hope you have a very Happy Birthday. Best wishes to you always. You are fantastic.
Just to say happy birthday and be your own person as your dear mother would have wished, she would have been so proud of you have a wonderful day and all the best for your future. You share the same birthday as my husband of 28 years. All I can say is be happy and god bless you dear prince William
Wishing you lots of success, good health, love and happiness in the years ahead.
Many happy returns as you celebrate a special birthday, to a wonderful young man.
Think wide and deep.
Make yourself on your own.
Make yourself aware of what all sorts of people are.
Forget about your Mum's tragedy.
We all love you!
Happy birthday. May your life be filled with happiness and may you live a very long and a happy life. its nice to know you were born in june have the same star as mine
Happy 18th Birthday, Prince William! I will be celebrating my 19th birthday on June 21st as well. I wish you well in all your endeavours, and I hope that the media continues to support your privacy!
This sincere birthday wish comes to you
from the opposite corner of the world...Wishing you
many happy returns of the day and pray
that your future be filled with
health, success, happiness, laughter,
joy and peace!
May all your wishes come true, and be the king
Dear Prince William:
I wish a very happy 18th birthday, I myself will be celebrating my 18th birthday on the 25th. May God continue to bless you in all your future endeavors and especially in your kingship.
I am a secondary teacher who knows what teenagers go through. My own mother died while I was also quiet young. Both your parents have a lot in common even though they may not have realised it. They both sought to be their own person. It was hard on your Dad and even harder on your Mum. You will have to live within constraints but not bad ones, marry for love, no matter who she is, and love your people and your mum will be very happy.
Best wishes on a beautiful journey into world on your 18th. One only wonders what all that great talent and intellect will bloom into. From the looks of the first 18 years we are in for many beautiful surprises in a world needing young leaders with great ideas that balance the world of science with compassion for every man. Dear William, you have it all.
To Prince William
I hope that you have a happy
birthday. I wish for you everything that
you would wish for yourself. I want for you a peaceful life
with as much freedom to be yourself
as possible. Take care, live life to the
full and may God bless you.
Happy Birthday! I wish you abundance of knowledge and steadiness of mind.
William, how about honouring the
memory of your mother, by taking
no further part in bloodsports?
Have a good one, do what you like, everyone deserves privacy, prince or no prince
