Thai Protests: Your stories

Bangkok's international airport has been targeted by protesters. The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) took over the airport on Tuesday after months of protests, and its members said they would not leave.

Passengers caught up in the chaos have been telling the BBC news website about their experiences.

LYNN WILLIAMS, WIRRAL, UK evacuated from airport

I arrived at Bangkok airport at nearly 2200 local time (1500 GMT). There was no airport staff at the check-in desk or at the gate. We were told that our airline's staff had left as soon as they heard about the protestors.

We were left overnight without any information and we only found out early evening that there were no flights into or from the airport.

There was nobody from our airline around and we couldn't get in contact with them.

Most of the airlines had evacuated the airport so we were part of a very small number of people left behind. It was all very eerie. All the shops had been closed and shelves stripped of goods.

Eventually, after 12 hours of waiting, another airline gave us food and water.

Six hours later, we were transferred to a hotel but we still weren't given any information. At least we could have a shower and some food.

JASON MELBOURNE, UK evacuated from airport

When I arrived at the airport, it was fine. The protesters fed us, gave us water and fruit.

The only problem was that there was no communication from the airlines. I turned up at the airport at 0500 local time (2200 GMT) and there was nobody there.

We could see the protesters. We were walking through them and talking to them. They were smiling. It was just a big, peaceful protest. There was no trouble.

HANNAH SIMONS, LONDON, UK stranded

I've been stuck for almost 10 hours. I'm travelling with my sister and we're just stuck.

Our taxi driver dropped us off a few miles from the airport because he didn't want to go any closer to the protestors and the police.

I have bags with me and I don't know how to get to the airport so I'm really stranded. I have heard that someone made it through to the airport on foot but I don't know how and I don't know the directions.

I keep calling the airline and I'm not getting any reply. I am worried that my insurance won't cover this.

JAMIE HARRISON, UK stranded

I'm on my way back from travelling after three great years and can't believe this.

I'm stuck in Pattaya which is 165 km from Bangkok. I have a flight which leaves later today and I can't see how I can get there.

The taxi drivers here aren't taking passengers to the city so I am stuck.

I'm with my baby daughter who is ten months old. I'm really worried about how I'm going to look after her and how she'll be with all this waiting and confusion. It's very difficult to provide for her.

We will aim to update these stories over the next few days on the BBC website.
