Live 8 accounts: Rome

We asked readers of the BBC News website to tell us about their day at a Live 8 concert.

Thomas Rocchi, a 18 year old student in Rome, went to the Live 8 concert at Circus Maximus, Rome with his cousin and friend.

There were so many great groups I couldn't pick my favourite.

The crowd was fantastic, they were so happy, cheering and dancing. They were singing to the most well known songs. It was fantastic to be part of it.

It was so hot.

People were stripping off and squashing into the smallest section of shade to get away from the sun.

There were drinks on sale but they were ridiculously expensive and I wasn't prepared to spend that much for a beer.

A chance to make history

The organisers talked about the politics of Live 8 quite a lot. The bands didn't but they would shout things like "peace" after their performance.

I'm not sure what good Live 8 will do. I would like it to achieve its aims but I think we'll have to wait and see if anyone is listening.

The public have done all we can.

We have played our part well and now it is up to others.

For me Live 8 will always be something to remember. It is a beautiful thing and I feel like I have been part of the history that was made today, July 2 2005.
