The TV presenter Caron Keating has died aged 41 following her battle with cancer.
Ms Keating was the daughter of television presenter Gloria Hunniford and presented Blue Peter during the late 1980s.
She took time out to look after her two sons, but made a return to TV in 1996 with stints presenting ITV's This Morning.
Thank you for your tributes to Caron Keating. Read a selection of your e-mails below.
I was so shocked to hear of Caron's death at such an early age. It is a tragedy for the whole family especially her young sons. Caron had that rare quality, great beauty inside and out. Heartfelt sympathy to all her family. R.I.P. May your beauty shine on.
Julia Sherratt, Derby, England
Caron was on Blue Peter when my sons were growing up and a regular in our house as we watched Blue Peter together each week. She was a delight to watch. I'm immensely saddened to hear of her loss and send her family and friends my sincere condolences.
Maureen Hardy, LLandrindod Wells, Wales
Caron Keating interviewed me when I was about six or seven years old, about angels and I remember her as such an angelic and pretty person and it was such a shock to find out she had passed away. I just want to take this chance to bless her soul!
Josie, Surrey, England
My thoughts are with Caron's family today and always. I have had breast cancer since 1992 and understand how hard it is to carry on everyday both physically and emotionally. Thankfully I have been in remission for 3 years and my child still has her mother. Caron was bright, bubbly and always very professional yet sincere. I enjoyed seeing her on This Morning and am sad. Sleep peacefully, Caron.x x
Sara, Reigate, Surrey
While Caron's life has ended far too soon, I'm sure she would want us to take comfort from the fact she fulfilled more dreams than many twice her age. She was a fantastic example to young people by showing the importance of being happy with yourself just the way you are and doing what you want to do. May her legacy live on forever.
Sarah Morgan, Peterborough, UK
When you are young there is always someone you aspire to be like, for me that was Caron. After Blue Peter, as I've got older I've found myself drawn to programmes I don't watch, just to see Caron. The personality (and accent) drew me to her, and I didn't even know her. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
She was lucky to be in the media, but boy was the media exceptionally fortunate to have an inspiration to our lives like Caron who bought zest vigour and enthusiasm to our youth. Your image is enduring God Bless
Neil Smith, Sydney, Australia
So very sad to here about Caron. My deepest sympathy to her mother Gloria and her husband and two boys. God bless.
A true star that radiated happiness, her brightness will be with us forever. We offer our deepest sympathy to Caron's family at this extremely difficult time.
Phillip & Lindsey Woodhouse, Liverpool
A lovely young lady, with a heart of gold, Caron Keating always had a smile for everyone, while she was on television, and always made the viewers at ease, she will be sadly missed, and can now rest in peace.
Steve Weetman, Ulleskelf, North Yorkshire, UK
I am so sad to hear about the loss of Caron. I hadn't seen her since my last trip to London in 98.I can still hear her laughter like it was yesterday. I am so blessed to have her as my friend and she will remain in my heart forever. God bless you Russ and Charlie and Gabriel. With all My Love.
Ms. Robin Le Mesurier, Los Angeles, CA, USA
What an incredible shock to hear of Caron's passing. She was a wonderfully vivacious person and a big part of many people's lives, those who watched Blue Peter during the late eighties, like myself, will remember her beautiful smile, snappy fashion sense and warm presenting.
Mike Beek, Bristol, UK
Having worked for Russ and Caron as their nanny for two years, I was very shocked and saddened by the news of Caron's death. She was such a bright vibrant person with such a caring and wonderful nature. The world will be a different place without her in it. I send all my love and prayers to her family.
Anna Jones, Richmond
I have only just heard the news from my sister back home in the UK. What a terrible shame to lose someone so young to this dreadful disease. I don't usually write in this forum however I feel compelled to write when it is someone with young kids, so close to my own age and who was part of my growing up. My thoughts are with her family and may we never forget such a striking woman.
Lesley Hirst, Toronto Canada
I had the pleasure of working for Caron as a nanny to her two wonderful boys Charlie and Gabriel. it was a pleasure to work for someone so full of life and energy always smiling and making me laugh. Caron was a very generous, kind and caring person as well as being an excellent loving mother. Caron taught me all about angels, she really believed that if you ever needed help or courage you just had to ask your angel. She told me once "Sarah, if ever you cant find a parking space in London just take a deep breath and ask an angel to help you, then drive round the corner and there will be a space!". How she made me laugh, and believe. Working so closely with Caron became two of the best years of nannying for me, we had so much fun everyday was different and they were such a great family. I send all of my love and thoughts to Russ the boys and her family at this very sad time. May you rest in peace with your angels Caron. You will be sadly missed.
Sarah Caldwell, Ascot, Berkshire
It was a real shock to hear of the loss of Caron. She was a part of every eighties teenager's life with her wacky fashion sense and bravery on Blue Peter challenges. She will be missed.
Rob Edwards, Newcastle Upon Tyne England
Having watched my Mum fight breast cancer (thankfully successfully), I was shocked to hear of Caron's death. I always wanted to be her when she was on Blue Peter. I loved the way she looked. My condolences to her family.
Katie, Windsor, UK
I'm very saddened by this news. Like most, I only "knew" Caron as a presence on TV. But what came across very strongly to me was her authenticity - she seemed to be a genuinely charming person. I don't think you can fake that. I send my deepest condolences to her family and friends.
Simon, Walsall, UK
I was very saddened to hear of the death of Caron Keating. She was a beautiful personality. My condolences go out to her husband and two young boys. She was the same age as me and with children the same age - I cannot imagine being without my children whilst they are so young - it breaks my heart to think of those children without their mother. May God Bless you Caron and keep you in his care. RIP.
Ann-Marie, Aylesbury, Bucks
An unmitigated tragedy. I was very shocked when I heard it announced on the news. RIP Caron. Best wishes to all the family.
May God bless Karen's husband and her 2 beautiful kids and help them through the hard times in front of them but most of all, help them keep their memories of their wife and mum tight to them¿
Margaret Paul, Broxburn, Scotland
This news sent shockwaves around the office when we found out yesterday that Caron Keating had passed away. I feel like I grew up with Caron by watching Blue Peter religiously as a child. She was a beautiful, giving, incredibly charismatic role model to many young girls like me. She will be sadly missed for many years to come.
This is a very sad day. As a kid in Northern Ireland in the 1980's there was not much to be proud of but Caron's beauty and charm made us all feel good. She will be missed.
Jackson Kepple, London
We have lost one of the most beautiful and talented young women of recent times. It is devastating that Caron has been taken away from us at such a young age.
Elizabeth Griffiths, Huddersfield
Children of my age grew up with Caron. She was often a familiar after school face on our television screens. Always appeared very enthusiastic. She will be sadly missed.
Karl Parr, Crewe
The broad beaming smile, that beautiful face, that sparkling personality, have gone to brighten another place. God bless you Caron.
I myself am a great friend of Caron's. I am a 13 year old girl and I looked up to her greatly and I admired her whenever she was in my sight. I loved her playful boys who I used to play with for hours in the holidays and I still do. Russ cared for Caron all the time and always put her before himself. This whole family is completely great. I even met Gloria when she came over to Australia who is a very lovely person. I am great friends with their family and my heart goes out to Gabrielle, Russ, Charlie and Gloria as they have lost someone truly admirable.
Shanti, Byron Bay, Australia
I used to walk my dogs with Caron, when I lived in South London, she was a lovely girl with a very friendly nature! She always took an interest in other people's feelings. I shall remember her with great fondness and admiration. My sympathies to her young family and friends.
Natasha Campbell, Ballymena, N.Ireland
I remember growing up watching Caron and wishing I could be just like her. She was a wonderful role model and a beautiful person inside and out. I can't begin to imagine what her family and friends are going through. Hopefully she has found peace now.
Jacqueline, Norwich, Norfolk
Caron's smile lit up my childhood. May she light up heaven in the same way. My sincere condolences to her family on their sad, sad loss.
Duncan Campbell, London, UK
I'm shocked and saddened to hear about Caron's death. She was my favourite Blue Peter presenter when I was a kid, she was always so glamorous and funny and friendly. She was always game to try anything, from wearing a dress designed by a viewer to taking part in a hardcore tug of war. My thoughts go out to her family, especially her sons.
Jessica, Cardiff, UK
I will always remember the warmth in her beautiful face. My heart goes out to her family.
Kareen Mitchelson, Fife, Scotland

All your immediate family and relatives up north are thinking of you Russ, and your family at what must be a difficult time. Our condolences also to Gloria and her family members to.
Bobby & Michelle Innes, Glasgow Scotland
I was very shocked to hear of the passing of Caron. I, like many, watched her on Blue Peter when I was growing up. She was the one I wanted to be, epitomising everything a young girl could aspire to - beautiful, funny, intelligent, brave, always smiling. I always enjoyed watching her when she appeared on other programmes such as This Morning - you felt you could really believe in her and what she was saying. My thoughts and prayers go to her family and in particular her husband and sons at this very very sad time.
Louise, Bucks, UK
I lost my sister a month ago and so my thoughts are with Caron's family and friends at this very sad time. Caron and the Blue Peter team were such a huge part of my childhood, she will be sadly missed.
Vanessa Marcahnt, UK
Like so many others, I watched Blue Peter in the late eighties and really enjoyed it. I always loved the different sports they would do like parachuting - stuff I would never do myself but which brought a sense of adventure into my life. I was living in Leicester at the time. My deepest sympathies to all Caron's family, particularly her husband and two children. May God be with you all at this difficult time.
Suzette Martin, Kingston, Jamaica
I can only extend my deepest sympathies to Caron Keating's family. As a young child, I watched Blue Peter and I always warmed to her kind heartedness and zest for life. Her charm and good nature will be sorely missed.

What a wonderful and caring person Caron was. She will be sadly missed. My thoughts go out to her family at this time.
Jacqueline Honey, Grays, UK
Her genuine warmth, good humour and interest shone through. I once saw her in Asda, Wimbledon when she was pregnant with her son Charlie - totally natural and not at all 'star struck'.
Theresa McLetchie, Glasgow, Scotland
Caron was lovely - that wonderful northern Irish accent and warm personality. A beautiful woman. Very sorry to hear about it and devastated for her family and especially two young sons. As a father of two it is heartrending to think of being parted from my children and for their mother to be taken away by this illness is terrible. Sad day.
I am absolutely stunned. I had probably outgrown "Blue Peter" when she was on but still made a point of watching whenever possible. She had such a vibrant personality that she could make the most dull of items seem interesting. My thoughts are with her family at this tragic time.
David, Oldbury, UK
You were an inspiration to children and adults alike, that felt you were an adventurous member of a distant family. You shined on the small screen. Thank you
Kevin O, South Yorkshire
This life is short and precious - she was a beautiful, vivacious woman. My sympathy to her family.
Don, Manchester, UK
Next month I shall be walking the route of the London Marathon, with 15000 others, in aid of breast cancer research. So far I have raised £2000. I shall now dedicate my walk to Caron.

My thoughts are with Caron's family, and with everyone battling cancer, despite progress it is still a horrible killer, people shouldn't forget that we need to find a cure.
Gill, London, UK
Angels are only lent, never given. God bless
Anon, Manchester UK
Caron was part of our challenge of raising three young children. She was always there on the screen imparting knowledge and showing bits of life that we could only imagine. They grew into well adjusted and contributive members of the community and Caron was part of that. Thank you and love and prayers to all her family.
Ken Kedward, Taunton, Somerset
This is wonderful testimony to a young lady whose had so many tributes. She certainly had a quality and charm and was so brave. I can only imagine what Gloria the boys and the family are going through and send them all my prayers. Knowing in the stillness and the calm there will always be the memories of Caron so full of fun and laughter.
Pam Preece, Buckinghamshire
Never has the old saying 'The best ones die young' been more apt ... thanks for all the happy memories and the sparkle you brought to the world.

Max Jones, London
What truly saddening news for two boys to lose their mother, a husband to lose his wife and parents to lose their child. My thoughts go to them all and I am thanking God for all I have at this minute.
Sue, Plymouth, UK
Caron was an inspiration for all Northern Irish young women. She had intelligence, poise elegance and beauty. This is a sad loss for our country.
B , Belfast
I won my Blue Peter badge for designing an outfit for Caron in the Caron's Clothes competition. The outfit was bright, sunny and colourful, just like the lovely presenter I designed it for.
I was so shocked to hear of Caron Keating's death as I had no idea that she had been so ill, probably like a lot of people. I feel so sad for her husband and sons and also for Gloria Hunniford who has lost her beautiful daughter. No parent should have to bury their child.
Clare O'Toole, Newcastle upon Tyne
"Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush; I am the swift uplifting rush; Of quite birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry: I am not there. I did not die." (anon) Caron is alive in her boys with us always.
Ruth, Scotland, UK
My feelings go out to her children. I only lost my mum two months ago from cancer so I know how you feel. Keep your chin up, with love to all the family.
Edward Parker, Bedford
Ten years ago I was lucky enough to be interviewed by Caron and to meet her several times afterwards. She was one of the most magnetic, infectiously optimistic, and warm people I've ever known. It is miserable to think that I can never enjoy her company again.
Simon Mundy, Kington, Powys
Its so sad, especially for Charlie and Gabriel, but she truly was inspirational, I shall always remember her beauty, both inside and out. God bless.
Rachelle, Washington, tyne & Wear
Shine on Caron, shine on....

Desperately sad news. One of the greats of 80s kids' telly, and one of the stars of my childhood. Bless you, Caron.

I was shocked and saddened by this news this morning. Most of us have a favourite Blue Peter presenter and she was mine. My thoughts are with her family.
Alex Holdsworth, Birmingham
I too have very fond memories of Caron Keating on Blue Peter during my younger years. I remember my mum, who is a massive fan of Caron's mother, telling me every time I commented on one of Caron's latest feats for the show that 'she was Gloria Hunniford's daughter'. It is so upsetting when someone who gave so much is taken so young. My thoughts and prayers are with her family
Christian Rule, London
My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Caron, she was a wonderful, caring presenter and I will always remember her in my thoughts and prayers. My prayers are with her family.
It does give you a nasty jolt when TV presenters of your childhood start to pass on, but 40 is so young. A terrible tragedy - most of us didn't even know she was ill, just assumed she'd gone "quiet". RIP Caron, you have left many of us with fond memories.
Chris Power, London, UK
It's just so sad. Some of my earliest memories are of Caron, Mark and Yvette. She belonged to the good old days when children's television presenters didn't feel the need to shout and wear loud clothes to be interesting. A true professional. She will be missed.
Rachel, Liverpool, UK

Rachel, Co. Antrim, NI
This is very sad news. I was a "Blue Peter"-watching child in the late eighties and early nineties, and Caron was my favourite of the presenters of 'my' era of the show. I remember being very sad when she left, but glad that in her final episode they re-showed her swimming with sharks report, which was one that stuck in the memory then and remains a vivid recollection now. She always seemed such a friendly and fun presence on screen, the kind of person you would have loved to have had as a teacher in school. My condolences to her family for this great loss.
Paul Hayes, West Sussex, UK
My deepest sympathy to Caron's family. What a tragic loss of such a beautiful young life. You will remain in our thoughts
Juliette Brown, Preston, Lancashire
I will remember her welcoming me to Blue Peter every Tuesday and Thursday with her energy, enthusiasm and smile. Caron presented Blue Peter during its heyday. She meant different things to different people but, for my generation she will remain the girl who said 'here's one I made earlier' with a smile! Rest in peace.
Chris, London, UK
My immediate thought was poor Gloria, this is such a tragedy for the whole family, my thoughts are with them.

I'm stunned by this news. Growing up in the 1980's she, along with Mark Curry and Yvette Fielding were part of my life on Blue Peter. Thanks for the memories.
Whenever I read about Caron in magazines, or saw her on TV, I was always impressed with her caring and positive manner. Her children, family, and friends will miss her but she lives on in their hearts and memories and in the future of her boys.
Wendy, Woking, UK
I remember growing up with Blue Peter, around the time that Yvette, Mark and the beautiful Caron were presenting the show. We're sorry to have lost such a wonderful woman and my heart goes out to the family.

I used to look forward to going home to see Blue Peter in the 80's, not because I thought it was a great show, but simply that Caron Keating had the sort of infectious smile that was a pleasure to see. This is a terrible loss, but her smile and her laughter will always be remembered.

As a child growing up during the 80's Caron was a huge part of my life. My greatest memories of Blue Peter will always be of Caron with Mark Curry and Yvette Fielding. She was a beautiful, natural and caring presenter who in the often manic world of children's TV was able to remain cool and elegant while still connecting with the kids watching.
