Talking Point

Do you believe in the paranormal?

Belief in the paranormal is on the up. The British Psychological Society calls it the X Files Factor, and they say it has never been so popular.

But The X Files is only the entertainment end of what is, for many people, a far more serious subject. The BPS survey, one of the biggest ever, shows that belief in extra-sensory perception, such as telepathy and clairvoyance, is widespread among educated British adults.

Nearly 60% of adults believe in ESP, but there is a big difference between the sexes the survey says. 70% of women believe while 48% of men say they believe in ESP. But the survey says it isn't an issue of age - the under 25 group was only slightly less convinced than anyone else.

Do you believe in the paranormal? Is your country prone to believing or disbelieving? Why?
