Britons drinking too much, survey warns
A survey of British drinking habits shows that almost one million men admit to getting drunk at least once a week, as do 190,000 women.
The survey, to coincide with the launch of a Christmas campaign to promote sensible drinking, says more than nine million men and 6.2 million women have been drunk over the last year.
The survey highlights what it says is a worrying level of binge drinking and also how socially acceptable getting drunk is in Britain.
What happens where you are? Do people drink too much? What do you think?

Some people drink too much and some people don't. But on the whole, most
people I know are fairly sensible most of the time about how much they drink.
Occasionally, most of us drink a bit too much but survive to tell the tale.
But I do think drinking and driving is madness and should be stamped out as much
as possible. Paul Snookes, Japan

Every picture I see on British TV shows someone drinking and the effects that
the drinking causes. Drinking and smoking seem to be the thing in the UK. W. Blystone, USA

I last spent an extended stay in the UK in the 1950s and think that those
thousands of pints of stout and mild helped to keep me in the excellent health
I currently enjoy. Anon, USA
