As part of our series of special features on water we're asking you to send us your pictures from around the world depicting the importance of the vital resource to your area.
China, India, Africa and the Middle East are all among key areas where access to water and irrigation are central to people's daily lives, as well as directly affecting the political landscape of the regions.
Do you live in an area where the supply of water is central to your daily life? Is access to water a major issue in your region?
Have you got a story with an accompanying picture to illustrate the importance of water to your locality?
If so, we would like to hear from you.
We will select the best of your pictures and publish them here and on our special water site.
How to submit a picture
To e-mail your picture to us, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you want to send your picture from your mobile phone, dial +44 7970 885089. You can send them from any network or phone. Please send the large full size images (usually 640x480 pixels) taken by the mobiles otherwise they are too small to publish.
Don't forget to include your name and some background information as to what the image is about, as this will increase your chances of selection.
If you submit an image, you do so in accordance with the BBC's Terms and Conditions.
In contributing to BBC News Online you agree to grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that we want, and in any media. (See the Terms and Conditions for the full terms of our rights.)
It's important to note, however, that you still own the copyright to everything you contribute to BBC News Online. This means you are perfectly free to take what you have produced and re-publish it somewhere else. Please note that if your image is accepted, we will publish your name alongside it on the BBC News website. The BBC cannot guarantee that all pictures will be published and we reserve the right to edit your comments.
