She lived longer than any other King or Queen in British history. Yet her reign as Consort was comparatively short. She was one of the architects of the modern House of Windsor, yet she was born a commoner. Her birth came at the very beginning of the 20th century, but each generation will have its own memories of her. Send us your Queen Mother tributes.
Chris, Western Australia
Now that you are reunited with your loved ones, may peace be with you.
Yes we've Lost a great woman, grandmother and Queen of the world. She was a great Grandmother to my nation in Ghana.

It is a very sad day and she will be very greatly missed by us all. A truly marvellous and courageous lady who was loved by us all and will be always remembered with great love and affection.
Queen Mother will always be remembered as a Brave Lady who inspired the British and her colonies during the Second World War. May she rest in peace.
Kazuyuki Marukawa, Japan
God bless the Queen, Royal family, People of Great Britain and of the Commonwealth upon the loss of the Queen Mum. I had just seen HM Queen Elizabeth II during her trip to Jamaica. She was given a warm welcome, the visit just days after the loss of her sister. The Jamaican people showed great love for their Queen.
How, at this time the Queen will enjoy her Golden year as Queen, will only come from the strength of God. God Save the Queen
May Queen Mum rest in Peace. My condolences to Her Majesty and all members of the Royal Family.
I was saddened to hear the death of the most influential Queen Mother of our time. My prayers and sympathy go out to the royal family, especially Her Majesty the Queen. I know our Lord will keep her safely. Her smile will be missed by everyone. May she rest in peace.
I would like to say that my family and me have been very broken-hearted to hear the death of the Queen mother. I hope she gets a good rest alongside Princess Diana. May both of their souls rest in peace.

Fully disappointed for the death of HRH The Queen Mother, I pay my tribute to the departure of a mile stone in history.
She is just like the grand mother of every one. A big loss for every one. Good bless her.
My sympathy to the royal family and the British people.
What a generous and wonderful Lady. The very epitome of integrity and the stuff of which legends are made.
Above all, you were there at a time when we all needed you most. Thank you.
Rest in peace.
May choirs of heavenly angels guide her gently to her rest. May flights of Cherubims and Seraphims sing sweetly throughout her journey.
My condolences, as a Brazilian citizen, to the British people, in this sad day H. M. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, the last Queen-Empress, died just after 20th century.
Kirsty, England
My deep condolences on the death of the Queen Mother. She was my Mother's and Grandmother's favourite. She symbolises to the greatness and kindness of U.K.
Though I may not know much about the late Queen Mother, I must say that she touched the hearts of many. Including mine. Her smile was like an everlasting flame(it touched millions). Reading about the things she has done and achieved, it moves me greatly. She has been a symbol of love, hospitality(in the time of war) and a great leader. My deepest condolences to the royal family, and I pray that her soul rest in peace. And being a Buddhist, I pray she be reincarnated as an even better living being.
There was something in her smile that warmed my heart whenever I came across pictures of the Queen Mum. She was one remarkable and indomitable lady of her time who will be sorely missed.
Goodbye, my royal Greatgranny, you will always be in my thoughts.
I am sorry to hear the loss of the Queen Mother. She was a great lady and my whole family will miss her
Basharat Khan, United Kingdom
She was truly a Queen in the greatest tradition of Royalty. She will be sorely missed by all of us.
One of the famous Queens and a mother and being the oldest royal family crown has ended her life full of joy. God permitted her life to last until that time because she has probably fulfilled her duties in God's creation.
The passing of the Queen Mother saddened me greatly. Her charm, good will, decency and gracious manner will be sadly missed. My condolences to the Royal family, and all who worked with the Queen Mother, and the people of Britain, in your time of such loss.
Dearest Elizabeth, mother of our century, we will all miss your beautiful eyes, your gorgeous smile and your great sense of fun and joy of living. May you now rest in eternal peace alongside your beloved husband and your daughter Margaret. We love you and thank you for all that you have done for Britain!
Natalie Barker, UK
I am not British, but I would have been a royalist easily because of Queen Mother. If Princess Diana was the Queen of Hearts, the Queen Mother was the Queen of all Hearts.
A true loss of a wonderful and admirable person. An Example to us all. If one in ten followed by her example we would have a wonderful race.
May we all remember and never forget all that we have been shown.
With great sadness for a lovely lady, whose smile touched us all.
May she rest in peace.
William Barber, Scotland
When I came to the UK in order to go to school it was not long before I could see just how much the nation loved this dear, wonderful woman. In short order I could see why. She had a wonderful quality about her that simply radiated from her. How many people of royal blood can claim to have such a quality? She will be missed by all who had the chance to see her and feel that wonderful personality that was hers alone. May God bless the UK at this time of loss.
We have lost a wonderful, warm, strong, lady. As a child growing up in the 50's in a family who were royalists and very proud Brits I have always had great admiration and love for this lady. God bless her. I would like to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and her family. It doesn't matter how old you are you are still a little child when you finally lose your mom. The queen will carry on because she has no choice. God be with her and comfort her. A member of my family worked for Her Majesty and a neighbour of mine was in the Scots Guards. Both of these individuals can't speak highly enough of her. I wish I could put my arms around her and take away the pain for a little while.
Thank you God for allowing the Queen mother to be part of our lives and please keep your loving arms around our Queen as she continues to reign over us.
Darien Brooks, USA
The TV pictures show hundreds of bunches of flowers at the gates of Windsor etc. Exactly the same happened when Diana died.
But given that both Diana and Elizabeth did a great deal of charity work, would it not be more appropriate for people to donate £5 or £10 to one of their chosen charities, instead of spending this money on flowers? The flowers will die in a few days, but the money could be put to genuine use by the charities.
I'm sure both Diana and Elizabeth would have wanted this.
I was born in England but now live in Australia. I absolutely adored the Queen Mum and I am devastated to hear of her passing. Her gorgeous smile that was so full of genuine warmth and radiance will be so very much missed by us all. What a wonderful, beautiful woman. My condolences to all of the Royal Family at this sad time.
There will be a brighter star in the sky as she looks down on us all.
Rest in Peace, dear lady.
Jalal Mohsin Salim Lardhi, Yemen
As children living in England during the Second World War we remember the Queen Mother as someone who has always been there for us, as an example of everything that is good about being British. She was a fine Ambassador for the Country. We fear that we shall not see her like again.
Our sympathies and blessings to her family.
The Queen Mother is no longer with us, but long live our present Queen Elizabeth II.
Samson Opus, Uganda
Love, prayers and deepest sympathy are with the Royal Family at this time. The Queen Mother will be sadly missed and her passing leaves a great gap in Britain. She will never be forgotten
Montaser G. Al-Sabbagh and family (Jordanian), extend our heartfelt condolences to her Majesty the Queen, the royal family and UK nation on the death of our beloved Grandmother.
She was one of the greatest mothers in the world. She understood her responsibility towards her family, nation and world. We will never forget her and the contribution she made to our life by just being what she was, a mother in every common sense of the word.
HER luminous smile will linger in our hearts and minds as long as we live.
May God bless her Soul!
She lived to be a great age. One of the leaders of the 20th centaury & it's a sad loss. May she rest in peace.
Our thoughts are with you. Rest in peace.
Fabio Nicadri & Massimo Plichero, Italy

I am 14 and I am deeply saddened by the passing of a great and wonderful Queen Mother. She will be sadly missed. God bless her and her family.
Having lived in Britain for almost 14 years, I always felt that she was a moderating influence, one that pored oil on troubled waters. We need more people like her not less. I, personally feel sorry for her passing on & my sympathies go to her loved ones.
She was definitely the strength of the Royal Family. My condolences to her family and may she rest in peace.
God Bless the Royal Family, and may Queen Mother rest in peace
The world has lost a leader. I have lost a Queen Mother. God bless the Queen and ease her sorrow...
Carolyn Tate Higgs, USA
Our Queen Mother will be sadly missed but remembered with great affection and gratitude for many many years to come.
I would like to say that the Queen Mum has had a great life and she was a lovely woman.
My thoughts are with the Queen and the rest of the Royal family.

The Queen Mother will be remembered by all. She will be sorely missed by everyone. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. Goodbye dear lady!
I am a 14-year-old boy but I am saddened and shocked by the death of a great and wonderful Queen Mother. She will be sadly missed. God bless her and her family.
I think no other well-known person has lived such a long and turbulent years in history as the queen Mother

We are sad with her family for the passing of a great lady but we also remember her with affection and she will always be remembered as a true Royal. The world will be a poorer place without her.
I think the Queen Mother will be sadly missed. She was from a breed that had strong determination, loved, and was proud of her country.
On behalf of my family, I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom following the demise of the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth. She was a living symbol of love and peace and these have been dealt a severe blow by her death. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
God Bless our mum Rest in Peace
It is with great sadness that I discovered that the Queen Mum had passed away. She added grace and dignity to my life and made me proud to be English. Our flag flies at half-mast.
Shyam, India
You have given far too much coverage to her death. Most people do not want it.
A tragic loss to our country and sadly missed for dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return (Gen 3:19)
She was such a great lady, the only one in the British Royal Family I think without any scandal. My condolences to Prince William and Prince Harry
In great respect to the Royal family. The Queen Mother will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful lady and an inspiration to us all.
As a child of WWII, my earliest memories are of this grand old lady visiting the bombed sites. May her soul Rest in Peace.
It is indeed a great loss to the people of Britain and the world. The people of Bhutan share similar sadness and she is mourned here by people of all walks of life. May her soul rest in heaven peacefully.
Sonia Chovanec, Australia
Good bye! You were a model for many people, you helped to build a marvellous country!
Our heartfelt condolences to the royal family for the passing of the grandmother of the world.
I am very sorry to hear she died. She was always smiling.
Queen Mother was not only respected in Great Britain. The whole Commonwealth took her in great esteem.
Farewell to our Honorary Commissioner (British South Africa Police, Rhodesia). A great lady.
The Queen mother has done no one any harm in her life time, she has carried out her duties while giving no one any grounds to complain, but she has also lived a very long and privileged life. We should respectfully thank her for her contributions but not get too carried away by the fact that she has now done what we all must do at some time and passed away peacefully.
Orlando Rancati, Toronto, Canada
The Queen Mother will be greatly missed by all. She will forever be remembered as a woman who in the history of our nation stood firm during one of our darkest hours.
The world has lost a beautiful and gentle person. Her smile will live on in the hearts of many.
Phillip & Karen Minnis & Family, New South Wales, Australia
A wonderful, gracious woman and a fine example for all of us, she will be sadly missed all around the globe.
As a South African I am proud that my roots lie in Scotland, the Queen Mothers place of birth. My prayers are with the country, its people and the royal family as they mourn the death of an extraordinary lady. God Bless.
I take this opportunity to submit my tributes and express my condolences for the loss of the beloved Queen Mother.
Being a teacher of English, I have often tried to explain to my students what a symbol she was to the British people, especially, during the bleak years of World War II and the bombardments of London.
May she rest in peace.
Jackie Gear, UK
She was a remarkable woman, thrust into the spotlight at the worst part of the 20th century. Despite it all, she came through. A favourite to the US people, too. May she rest in peace with her beloved Bertie.
The end of an era. Our country will never be the same again.
The Queen mother was a strong and yet caring and kind lady, whom I had the greatest respect for. I am saddened by her passing, but as many have already said we wanted her to live forever but something as gracious and lovely as her had to pass to a better place, so may she rest in peace and may her family be blessed and continue her example.
Bill Yuen, Australia
Queen Mum has been loved by people around the world. Living through the century of many world conflicts, the real Brave Heart of the modern days, she was. She lit up lives of many during hardship and gave joy wherever she passed. Her very kind personality will always be in hearts of many millions.
You led by example. Rest in peace.
Alan D., Rhode Island, USA
Dear Queen Mum, we will miss you very much. During the war I was in London and know what a great support you were to all the people. God Bless and goodbye.
A very nice old lady and a sadly lost mother to every one who loved her, the Queen Mother lived her life to the full and everyone should remember all the happy times.
R.I.P
Sincere condolences to the Queen and her family upon the loss of her mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Our thoughts are with the Queen and her family during this most difficult time. No matter how strong a person, a mother is a mother and we really give our utmost support to the Queen and her family.
Olutoyin, Nigeria
I was never fond of monarchy, but for some
reason I always liked the figure of the Queen Mother.
Maybe because she was so cute and looked so sweet.
She seemed a gracious and tender person in her pink outfit.
I admire her for looking so sweet and decent in such an old age, a beautiful
old person. I believe that in our memories she will stay as the picture of our own grand-mothers
or the one we would like to have; and that we all wish to reach at such an old age looking
happy and lovely. God rest her soul.
The Queen Mother was a gracious lady who was respected by all. Despite having lived such a full and lengthy life, she will be missed.
I will remember her often, as she and my mother, who passed on in 1992, were born in the same year. Eternal memory!
As am American, I was impressed by the Queen Mum's love and loyalty for her country and its people. My deepest sympathy goes to the Royal Family. I hope and pray that they will carry on the queen mum's tradition of grace and decorum.
Joy Lakeman, Canada
I was deeply moved to learn about the peaceful death of Queen Mother. Her life was full of examples- Queen mother you've gone, but you will never be forgotten.
To this end, I say 'thank God for a life well spent'
Sleep on Queen Mother, sleep and take your rest.
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight.
I wanted to express my deepest sympathy to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth and also to the Entire Royal Family. I saw the Queen Mum when she visited London, Ontario, many years ago.
My prayers are with you all. Rest in Peace Forever.
The Queen Mother was a wonderful lady, we shall all miss her smiling face.
Mary Mann, Scotland
I am an 18-year-old Indian girl. I really didn't know who the Queen Mother really was, but I can say that she had touched my heart with all the things she has done. With her being 101 years old she has seen three centuries and been through many bad and good things, with the biggest smile ever. The Queen Mother was a remarkable woman, with dignity and honesty. The Queen Mother will be deeply missed!
You have touched all young people's hearts, and may a great woman rest in peace. All our thoughts are with you.
I feel as if we have lost our last great symbol of British stoicism and strength; her Scottish steel wrapped in graciousness was inimitable. Truly a great lady has passed on.
The first piece of news I read on Easter Sunday was the death of the Queen Mother. Though somewhat expected, it still brought a tremendous sadness at the passing of this great lady. As a citizen of the Commonwealth, I am deeply grateful for all that England was for us. It has been suggested that her death brings to an end an era and doubts prevail as to what lies ahead. I wish to say that the citizens of the UK must cherish all that is truly great and continue the legacy left by the Queen Mum. Rather than thinking of her death as an end of an era, we must rather see to it that the present and future generations build upon this most solid foundation.
Christine Lambe, Dallas, Texas
What a wonderful lady the Queen Mum was! We have travelled in Asia for the past 20 years and everyone knew who the Queen Mum was. It will be very strange not to see her on the balcony, in parades, by the side of her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a woman with great charisma, and will be greatly missed. May God Rest your soul, you deserve it.
I've spent the past day or two trying to think of something to say.
So many people have said so many wonderful things. I guess all
I really wanted to say was this - Thank You.
May you rest in peace.
Dale
I saw the Queen Mother just last year as she was being driven down the Strand. It was a lovely late-summer afternoon and, as her car approached, a buzz of excitement went up from the few pedestrians around. I didn't realise who it was until the car slowed down to turn the corner I was standing on and she was suddenly in front of me. Seated in the back with a lady-in-waiting she leaned forward to look at everyone with a broad and keen smile on her face. I raised my hand to her and, looking at me like she recognised an old friend, she raised hers back. It was a lovely gesture and a small but significant memory for me. She was a lovely example for us all and I'll miss her
I was shocked when I read yesterday on the 9th page of our newspaper that the Queen Mum had died. I'm 17, and honestly I thought she was immortal, because she was always there and always helping someone and it never occurred to me that she was old and might actually die. My sister and I were devastated. Even though we're Americans, the Queen Mum always seemed to us like someone who would be a grandmother to us if we needed it. We loved her and will miss her deeply.
Truly the end of an era. I offer my sincere condolences to the Royal family and the people of the UK. May she rest in peace.
