More of your tributes to the Queen Mother
Buckingham Palace has announced the death of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

She lived longer than any other King or Queen in British history.

Yet her reign as Consort was comparatively short.

She was one of the architects of the modern House of Windsor, yet she was born a commoner.

Her birth came at the very beginning of the 20th century, but each generation will have its own memories of her.

Send us your Queen Mother tributes.

The Queen Mother was the symbol of kindness and courage in our minds

Stefan, Iceland
Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother was the symbol of kindness and courage in our minds. Her smile was one of a kind. She was unique! She will be missed by people around the world, she was the grandmother of the whole world. She has left us, but her spirit will live in us. I will never forget her. God bless the Queen and her family, she has the sympathy of the world that mourns with her and Prince Charles, he has lost his best friend. God bless the memory of the unique lady, whose spirit will live forever. May she rest in peace!

The Queen Mother was a passionate, astute and thoughtful monarch who managed to bridge the gap between a monarch and ordinary citizens of the commonwealth. She will be missed by all and remembered forever.

My Grandmother worked with the Queen Mum during the War and had nothing but praise for her

Eileen McAfee, Australia
Being Irish, I never had time for the Royal Family. With the exception of the Queen Mother and Diana. But my Grandmother worked with the Queen Mum during the War and had nothing but praise for her, God bless her. Having lost my own Father at Easter I have deep sympathy for the Queen
Eileen McAfee, Australia

The Estonians will remember the Queen Mother and our thoughts are with her.
Ants Pihlap, Estonia

Myself and my sons Michael and Andrew are very saddened with the news of Queen Mum passing away. Long live the Monarchy
Sue Wannarka, New Zealand

I think we are all just a little richer in spirit by having the Queen Mum in our lives for so many years

Chris, USA
My Uncle Ron (Aubery) was the Queen Mum's personal chef for the best part of thirty years. My Uncle Ron was a pretty average guy, except for his special talent with food. My Uncle Ron thought the Queen Mum was just so special¿ But Ron is dead now, too - So, I presume to speak for him. The Queen Mum was really just who she was! She gave us "Lilibet" - the best Queen the UK has ever had. She gave an example of courage when it was desperately needed! She showed us how to have fun with "old-fashioned" grace and decency. The Queen Mum was incredibly privileged from her birth. I'm sure she enjoyed each and every one of those advantages to the full during her long life. But - in the end - I think we are all just a little richer in spirit By having the Queen Mum in our lives for so many years.
Chris, USA

I've lost my mother last year. I know how difficult this is. I think of you!
Joke Roggeveen, Holland

My mom was in RCAF in Canada during WWII, she loved the Queen Mom and named me after her

Glenda, Canada
My mom was in RCAF in Canada during WWII, she loved the Queen Mom and named me after her. We have always honoured her and share in celebrating her wonderful life and the legacy she has shared with all the world.
Glenda, Canada

Although I never had the chance to see the Queen Mother, God bless her soul, on my numerous trips to Great Britain, I feel like I have lost a grandmother. My deepest sympathy to the whole Royal Family.
M. Chanti, Switzerland

It's my strong conviction that had Her Majesty been able to live forever, and our sovereign for that matter, this country would never have contemplated becoming a republic. A remarkable woman, whom we all loved. God rest her.
Anne Coulthurst, Australia

A Grand lady, may she rest in peace. The country will miss her. Condolences to all her Family
Philip Spencer, UK

She had a very special place in my heart all my life

Higgs, Anne, Canada
I had the privilege to meet the Queen Mum and Princess Margaret in 1951 at Windsor Castle. She had a very special place in my heart all my life. Her courage in WW2 was akin to the late Winston Churchill's, they taught by example for us always to have courage and dignity, yet there was always a glint of mischief. My father who was employed at Windsor castle told me about the then Queen Elizabeth Consort to George VI how she would visit the Estate workers, just as a neighbour, would stop by, I have lost both my parents and feel I have lost 2 special family members close together. My heart goes out to the Queen, Prince Charles, William & Harry and all the Royal Family. I feel especially for the Queen as she heads into her 50 Jubilee, without her Mother & Sister at her side. The loss of one's mother is like losing a part of self, I still miss mine. I am relieved that the Queen mum was at Windsor and died peacefully in her sleep, with her beloved Lillibet at her side. A life work well done, sleep well sweet Queen I shall miss your smile, style and all that you were.
Higgs, Anne (nee) Clements, Canada

A grand and gracious lady who will be sadly missed not only by her countrymen but by people whose hearts she has touched from all over the world. Our condolences to her family.
Tim and Jennie Bermingham, Australia

The Nation, Commonwealth, indeed the whole world have lost their favourite grandmother. My heart and soul goes out to Her Majesty The Queen and to all members of the Royal Family upon their great loss of a gracious lady, the Queen Mum. Her strength and devotion to duty not only during the war years but in peacetime as well do her and her family great credit. Never again will we see such a fabulous lady as this. Although she will not see the Jubilee year in person she will be in the hearts of us all. May her memory always live on in our hearts forever.
David J Soppit, New Zealand

I'd just like to say that the Queen Mother was a truly remarkable lady-full of energy. She never let anybody stop her from doing what she wanted. A great tragedy.
Greg Monk, UK

I think deep down when Margaret went, we could all see this coming, but it's still a shock

Richard Hawley, UK
My sympathy goes out to the Queen and her family. I think deep down when Margaret went, we could all see this coming, but it's still a shock that this very likeable member of the Royal family has now gone. It's the end of a very long era and I hope the press can give the family some space and respect until the funeral at this very painful time.
Richard Hawley, UK

Another great person has left this world. Queen Mum, we will miss you and remember everything you did for this world. Rest in peace.
Erik Bjornhage, Gothenburg, Sweden

Simply a great woman, who united the country as never seen before. Fabulous!
William Whatson, United Kingdom

If politicians only had a fraction of her sense of duty to the British public, this Island would be a bright place. It is all the darker in her passing. God bless you your HRH Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.
Paul, England

May she rest in peace and we all will miss her as she was a well-respected member of the troubled household.
Monique Lerlance, England

Thank you for being you. You will be sadly missed. At last you can be reunited with your king.
Angela Barons, UK

When I think of Her I think of Serbian/Yugoslavian Royal family being related to British Royal Family, and I am sorry these relations were not more expressed in the past for the benefit of all

Jasna Simonovic, Serbia
I have always had a wish to greet Queen Mother, but now Her Majesty is gone from this world... When I think of Her I think of Serbian/Yugoslavian Royal family being related to British Royal Family, and I am sorry these relations were not more expressed in the past for the benefit of all... When I think deeper of Her Majesty, I do not think of any Royal matter...She makes me think of the global House of Mother... To Queen The Mother... On this very holy day, Easter, may God and Holy Christ give Her eternal Life...
Jasna Simonovic, Serbia

We also mourn this terrible loss here, in Russia. We study your history and we know that HM Queen Elizabeth Queen Mum is more than a symbol of your country. She was, is, and will be a greatest lady living in our hearts forever...
Pasha, Russia

She is one of the greatest people of the century. Her smile will be missed by millions. We are blessed to have her in our midst. May you rest in peace with our God.
Bobby Singhid, Saudi Arabia

The Queen Mother was a wonderful woman, and a definite symbol of all that is great about Britain. She will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, Ma'am.
Danny P French, United Kingdom

Her sense of fun and her kindness shone through her eyes

Jackie, Malta
Perhaps the sentence that has stuck in people's minds, was her reaction to the bombing of Buckingham Palace during the Second World War when she said: "I am glad we've been bombed. At least now I can look at the East End in the face." That is a sentence which in my opinion reflects the real character of this great woman, who wanted to show the people who were suffering that they were not alone. Queen Elizabeth will always be remembered as a kind of universal grandmother figure, touching the hearts of not just the British people , but worldwide. Her sense of fun and her kindness shone through her eyes... She will always be remembered....
Jackie, Malta

Thank you for your true love for everyone, and giving us all courage and inspiration. You will live forever in our hearts. We, and the world, will miss you, Queen Mum.
John Williamson, Japan

I was so touched by the death of the Queen Mother, a grandmother I have always respected Britain for. Having accomplished my studies in the UK, I have always lived in the UK to admire the Queen's mother. In her was courage and bravery that many have learned from. The British Empire will miss a wonderful monarchy in its great history. I share all the Britons' mourning. May her soul rest in peace.
Joseph Odongkara Ongom, Egypt

Queen Mother was the grace and serenity of the Royal Family with more style, courage and humanity than all others. She will be greatly missed as a role model to us all on dealing with life. She will be greatly missed and my sympathies are with her family at this difficult time.
Abi, United Kingdom

A new era dawns on the loss of a most loyal mother. In the whole of history there has been no other. She stood alone stoic and true to her nation. A resolve of true spirit and love in Britain's recreation. Our hearts are forever grateful to someone who was so graceful.
Angela Davis, United Kingdom

I feel as if I have lost my granny.
Lynette Mitchell, Australia/England

The world will miss the lovely smile of this great and beloved personality

Anton Poort, The Netherlands
My condolences to the Royal family and to the people of Great Britain. The world will miss the lovely smile of this great and beloved personality.
Anton Poort, The Netherlands

The Queen mother was like a Grandmother to the whole country. We all related to her in some way from the elderly that knew her during the war to the children who knew her as the old lady that was always smiling and happy. To me she was more than just a Royal - she was my great Granny. When my Granny died she look so much like the Queen mother. She will be missed by all.
David Cook, United Kingdom

I was in great shock and surprise when I saw the BBC tribute to the Queen Mum which meant that she had passed away. The nation has lost its backbone, its guide through the times and the most beloved grandmother on earth. May she rest in peace and be sacred in heaven.
Angélique Middendorp, Netherlands

God bless her

Dave Ryder, Australia
It is with great sadness that I heard about the Queen Mother. She reminded me of my mother back in the UK who passed away some 25 years ago. God bless her.
Dave Ryder, Australia

Queen Mother represented to the world great hope and courage and it is such a sad loss to hear of her passing. She gave so much joy to the world that through this time of great sadness her spirit will surely live on in the hearts of her admirers. She will live on eternally in our hearts.
Jamie, Australia

Though I mean no disrespect to the Windsor family who obviously will be saddened I feel it is a shame that we still live in a country that holds up a discredited monarchy as an example to the rest of us. While the BBC reports nothing but the death of the queen mother many die in Taiwan and Israel and yet we hear little of their fate.
Paul Morgan, UK

Queen Mother has now died but let us all rejoice in her life

Ian Hume, Scotland
HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother has now died but let us all rejoice in her life. I was not even born in the 2nd World War but her actions at that time could be described as one of her "defining moments". Her dedication to Great Britain and to all of us were immense.
Ian Hume, Scotland

It has all been said very aptly about a truly incredible life. May the Queen Mother's inspirational life of gracious service continue to be an example to all generations. Her influence is so strong I am sure there will be others like her. After all her likes are needed in what is a more materialistic and polarised world of haves and have-nots.
Brian Guest, Brazil

May she rest in peace.
PT, Finland

God Bless Her. She was a Mum to us all. She will always be remembered.
Lynda, Canada
