Chuck Jones: Your tributes
Mr Jones brought to life a host of cartoon characters including Bugs Bunny, Road Runner and Daffy Duck. A family statement said that his wife Marian was at his side in their home in the town of Corona del Mar when he died. He made more than 300 cartoons and won three Oscars for his work as director in the Looney Tunes stable. Send us your tributes to Chuck Jones. This debate is now closed. Chuck Jones made us laugh and cry. What more can any one person give? Thank you Chuck, you'll be missed.
Chuck Jones was dedicated to the art of animation and one of its most vociferous and articulate defenders against misguided censors who blamed 'cartoon violence' for all their problems. He inspired many of us to work in this marvellous profession - may he also inspire us to continue.
It's sad to hear of Mr Jones's passing. I love Bugs Bunny, Road Runner and all the other characters he has brought life to. I will never tire of seeing them. I can watch them many times and laugh at the humour. My condolences to the family of Mr Jones for their loss. We can honour his memory by watching his creations and appreciating them.
Thanks Chuck. One of the joys of becoming a father was to introduce my son to WB cartoons, in particular Bugs Bunny, and to see him laugh and smile at the cartoon antics. Priceless!
As a wannabe animator, I attended a speech given by Chuck Jones a few years ago. He gave me two pieces of advice: Never be afraid, he said, to let your inner Daffy Duck out. Art is about honesty, he said, and so you must reveal the venal, greedy, self-serving side of yourself and express it in your work.
He also told us to never be satisfied with our work. "That way lies artistic death," he told us.
God bless you, Chuck.

Beep Beep!
Swift journey, Chuck. Your stories and characters have changed the world, and made it crack, very consistently, up.
Aesop never knew what hit him! You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
Thank you, Mr. Jones.
Thank you.
That's all, Folks.
The skill and wit of Chuck's work had me crying with laughter as a kid 30 years ago - exactly the effect they have now in fact. That's all folks! Bye Chuck

He brought the child out in us all and we were never too old to enjoy Bugs Bunny.
What can you really say about Chuck who brought laughter and joy into this world. Chuck, you will be truly missed and forever remembered.
I prefer to start the day watching the hilarious antics of Bugs, Daffy and the rest of Chuck's brilliant creations. It's much better than waking up to news of anger and bloodshed. Thanks for putting so much fun and humour into our lives Chuck. Rest in Peace.
Thanks, Chuck. You have brought loads of laughter and good memories from my childhood and even today I find myself rolling on the floor when I see the Road Runner outsmart Wile E Coyote for the umpteenth time. Your legacy will live forever!
Your cartoons have given at least three generations endless fun and laughter. Let's hope they will be enjoyed for many years to come.
Thank you, Chuck. Rest in peace, and say hi to William Hanna, Charles Schulz, and the rest for us.
In Bugs Bunny you taught me to distinguish between a good rascal and a bad guy. May your soul rest in peace.

Chuck's cartoons brought us some of the funniest moments in the history of filmmaking. They're still so good even forty years on partly, I feel, because they don't underestimate their audience. They are unafraid to be dark, and never fail to be literate and witty, while at the same time employing the best of pure comedy slapstick. Add to that the great expressive animation and you have a wonderful set of unforgettable characters, each with their own quirks and foibles, who you want to see again and again. Absolute genius. Thanks Chuck, we'll miss you.
Your cartoons brought us together. We will always remember you for this in our hearts.
Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck are great, fun cartoons. Chuck will be sadly missed.

I will never forget Chuck Jones for doing two amazing Warner Brothers cartoons, Rabbit of Seville and What's Opera, Doc. These two cartoons showed his extraordinary genius in combining cartoon characters with serious opera music, which resulted in two of the most memorable cartoons of all time.
We have suffered an incredible loss with the passing of this comedic genius. I fear we may never know another such as him ever again. More is the pity.
A true genius of the 20th Century.
I grew up watching your cartoons and now my children watch your cartoons. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

I feel like a part of me has gone. He brought me, and will always bring me happiness and laughter. You won't be forgotten Chuck. God Bless.
May God bless your soul. You gave us joy and happiness in our saddest times. You have helped make unbreakable bridges between East and West. The world will remember you as a hero.
Thanks Chuck and rest in peace - from someone who spent a lot of his childhood feeling ever so slightly sorry for the hapless coyote.

He will be remembered in the hearts and minds of many, and through his cartoons, which no doubt shall remain favourites of young and old for many years to come.
Never in the history of mankind have so many been tickled pink by just one man. What a genius!
Chuck was one of the finest and most influential cartoonists ever. I've seen his cartoons time and time again, and they never fail to make me cry with laughter. The man was a dude and will be sorely missed.
His work has brought me pleasure throughout my life. There are very few people that can do that for everybody. He will be remembered by many.
Rest in peace Chuck, you brought so much happiness to so many people through your comic genius. Meep meep!
Rest in peace, and may we forever remember your contribution to the entertainment business.
