Metcalfe

Scotland have included two new caps for their Six Nations clash against England at Murrayfield on Sunday.

Six Nations Championship
Giant Northampton lock Richard Metcalfe and Glasgow Caledonians flanker Jason White are both included in the senior international team for the first time.

Metcalfe, who has only just recovered from an ankle injury he sustained on A team duty earlier in the season, has been given his chance by coach Ian McGeechan, his former mentor at Franklins Gardens.

Martin Leslie will move to number eight
White has impressed with a series of bulldozing displays with the second string this term and McGeechan will look to use his mobility to shut down an impressive England back row.

Edinburgh Reivers' Martin Leslie switches to number eight as Scotland seek to avoid a whitewash just a year after claiming the final Five Nations title.

Absent skipper John Leslie is replaced by Bourgoin centre James McLaren, with Edinburgh Reivers captain Graham Shiel named among the replacements.

Scotland team:

C Paterson (Edinburgh Reivers); C Moir (Northampton), G Townsend (Brive), J McLaren (Bourgoin), G Metcalfe (Glasgow Caledonians); D Hodge (Edinburgh Reivers), A Nicol (Glasgow Caledonians, capt); T Smith (Brive), S Brotherstone (Brive), M Stewart (Northampton), S Murray (Saracens), R Metcalfe (Northampton), J White (Glasgow Caledonians), B Pountney (Northampton), M Leslie (Edinburgh Reivers).

Replacements: G McIlwham (Glasgow Caledonians), G Scott (Glasgow Caledonians), S Grimes (Newcastle), S Reid (Narbonne), B Redpath (Narbonne), G Shiel (Edinburgh Reivers), A Bulloch (Glasgow Caledonians).
