Lomu joins Hurricanes
Jonah Lomu scores against France in the World Cup

Jonah Lomu, the biggest name in world rugby, has ended months of speculation about his future by signing with New Zealand side Wellington Hurricanes.

The All Blacks legend teams up with fellow internationals Christian Cullen and Tana Umaga in what promises to be one of the most dangerous back divisions in the Super 12 competition.

The massive winger, who scored a string of sensational tries in the Kiwis' otherwise disappointing World Cup campaign, has agreed a two-year deal with the Hurricanes.

Lomu had been linked with several rugby union and league clubs in England and New Zealand, as well as the American football team the Dallas Cowboys.

Room for improvement

Lomu said he had learned a lot from the World Cup, when the All Blacks were ousted in the semi-finals by the French.

"I really want to improve a lot. This is just another challenge," he said.

Lomu admitted he wanted to be closer to his girlfriend Teina Stace, who lives in Wellington.

He said: "I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a part of the decision... but it really came down to what was going to bring the best out of me.

"Wellington is just really peaceful and it helps me relax. The more relaxed I am, the better I can play."
