Sport: Rugby Union

It's another Leeds united

Leeds rugby union club is officially to join forces with its rugby league neighbours.

Members of the Jewson National League side voted 103-4 at an extraordinary general meeting to give control of the club to millionaire businessman Paul Caddick.

He already owns the Super League club Leeds Rhinos.

Caddick has pledged to invest £1 million in the union club.

The move cements its relationship with the Rhinos for the use of the Headingley Stadium and a proposed £10million rugby academy.

Leeds secretary Mike Bidgood said: "We will benefit from being under the umbrella of the professionalism of the Paul Caddick group."

Caddick, a former Leeds player, has pledged to bring top-level rugby union to Yorkshire within five years.
