Schumacher ready for tests

Michael Schumacher: Still hopes to return for Malaysia

Michael Schumacher is to undergo a series of tests in Italy to decide whether he is ready to return to Formula One.

The German's spokesman Heiner Buchinger confirmed on Monday that the 30-year-old would be at Ferrari's Fiorano test track early next month.

The double former world champion is recovering from a double fracture in his leg sustained at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in mid-July.

He will decide whether to return for the Malaysian Grand Prix on 17 October after the tests.

Schumacher has already missed five races this season.
