Rangers conclude Miller deal
Miller
Kenny Miller attracted many admirers last season
Rangers have completed the 2m signing of young striker Kenny Miller from Hibs.

Miller passed the obligatory medical examination on Monday to clear the final obstacle to the deal.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Rangers.

Hibs will receive 1.5m immediately and a further 500,000 at the end of the year.

Miller was clearly delighted at having made the move.

"I'm looking forward to getting started this week. It's a great opportunity, it's a massive club," said Miller.

"I'm not going to kid myself on that I'm going to be straight in - I know I'm going to have to work hard.

"If I do get a chance in a game, I'll hopefully be able to impress the manager and claim a starting place."

Big decision

The player's agent, former Rangers star, Gordon Smith, said it had been a big decision for the player to leave Easter Road.

"Kenny was very happy at Hibs. Hibs had been a good club for Kenny and they gave him his chance," said Smith.

"We had to look at his long-term prospects - whether he was going to be part of the set-up. In the end he decide his ambition was the thing that mattered most."

He said he felt sorry for Hibs having lost a player of Miller's stature, but added that it was a good thing that Rangers were spending money within Scottish football.

"A lot of people think they are poaching players from their rivals, but Hibs are getting the money and hopefully they can rebuild their side with that," said Smith.

"I am sure he will be a success at Rangers. He is very quick, he links up well, he's got a good attitude and he works hard.

"There aren't many players around with his pedigree and he's only just turned 20."

Miller will join the bulk of the Ibrox playing staff when they report back for pre-season training on Tuesday.
