Big guns to meet in cup

Leeds are hoping to avenge their recent league defeat by Villa


Premiership pacesetters Leeds must travel to Aston Villa in the FA Cup, after the fifth round draw threw up a number of mouth-watering ties.

The league leaders were beaten 2-1 at home by Villa two weeks ago and will desperate to exact revenge in Birmingham.

Many of the powerhouses of the English game left in the competition were drawn against each other.


Alan Shearer will return to his former club Blackburn
London giants Chelsea and Arsenal could meet at Stamford Bridge, with the tie resting on the outcome of two outstanding matches.

Chelsea have yet to play Nottingham Forest in the fourth round, while Arsenal face a tough replay against Leicester at Filbert Street.

Leicester manager Martin O'Neill acknowledged the draw could have been kinder to his side: "If we do go on to win the Cup then it's going to be the hard way."

First Division Blackburn will take on last season's finalists Newcastle, after beating Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield on Monday.

Preston, one of three Second Division teams left in the draw, have been given a glamnour trip to 1995 winners Everton.

Giantkilling experts Fulham and Tranmere, who knocked out Wimbledon and Sunderland respectively on Saturday, will do battle at Craven Cottage.

FA Cup fifth round draw in full:

Gilllingham or Bradford City v Sheff Wed or Wolves
Everton v Preston NE
Blackburn v Newcastle
Coventry City v Charlton Athletic
Cambridge Utd v Bolton Wanderers
Aston Villa v Leeds Utd
Fulham v Tranmere Rovers
Chelsea or Nottm Forest v Arsenal or Leicester City

Ties to be played on January 29 and 30.
