Premiership new boys Ipswich have signed Dutch international midfielder Martijn Reuser from Vitesse Arnhem.

The 25-year-old has cost 1m with a further 250,000 to be paid if the club retain their Premiership status next season.

Reuser, who was on loan for Ipswich in the final three months of last season, has agreed a three-year contract.

Reuser scored the final goal in Ipswich's 4-2 play-off victory over Barnsley to guide them into the Permiership.

Ipswich manager George Burley added: "Martijn fitted in very well and worked very hard.

"He scored vital goals and hopefully it will prove to be a good acquisition.

"He is very talented and will add more quality and extra competition for first team places."

Chairman David Sheepshanks said: "We know exactly what we have signed.

"Martijn proved to be extremely popular with our fans at the end of last season."

Reuser was delighted he had been signed permanently.

He said: "When I first came to Ipswich on loan it was quite an adventure - but signing for them now is like a dream come true.

"Ipswich is a tremendous club with great supporters and after the win at Wembley in the play-offs, I always wanted to stay."
