Winterburn signs for Hammers
Winterburn
Winterburn bids farewell to Arsenal.
West Ham have signed Arsenal's veteran defender Nigel Winterburn for an undisclosed fee.

The left back, who has signed a two-year contract with the Hammers, joined the Gunners from Wimbledon in May 1987 for 407,000.

The 36-year-old made over 550 appearances for the Highbury side and won no fewer than three league title and the European Cup Winners Cup with the side.

Winterburn also appeared twice for England, playing against Italy and Germany.

He was then recalled into the national squad for the friendly against world champions France in February last year.

"West Ham United are pleased to announce that they have signed defender Nigel Winterburn from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee," said a club statement.
