Spurs close to Rebrov deal

Sergei Rebrov could complete a 11m deal
Dynamo Kiev striker Sergei Rebrov says his multi-million pound transfer to Tottenham should be completed by the end of the season.

Rebrov is understood to have agreed a 25,000-per-week contract with Spurs, though the fee has yet to be finalised.

The 26-year-old has become one of the hottest properties in Europe having scored 100 League goals for Kiev, along with a further 24 in Uefa competitions.

It's just a matter of whether the two clubs can agree a fee, but I am confident that within two weeks the deal should be signed.

Kiev are reportedly asking 11m for the striker, which would smash the north London club's previous record of 6m, paid for Newcastle's Les Ferdinand in 1997.

"They managed to find a common language with me," Rebrov said.

"It's just a matter of whether the two clubs can agree a fee, but I am confident that within two weeks the deal should be signed and sealed.

"I am looking forward to playing in England. I like it better than Italian football, although I can't explain why.

"But at a club like Tottenham there's a trainer (Graham) who gets the strikers to run and get the ball. I am used to that. I have played like that all the time."

Graham has moved for the 35-times capped international after Glasgow Rangers and Arsenal's attempts to sign Rebrov both stalled.

"We (my wife and I) were all set to go to Glasgow to have a look around," Rebrov said, "but there was a problem with the transfer and we couldn't complete the deal.

"Arsenal didn't do a deal because they are playing in the Uefa Cup and all their transfer policies will be decided after the Cup final (with Galatasaray) later this month."
