Yorke jets in for Leeds clash
Dwight Yorke looks set to play for Manchester United against Leeds, after the on-off saga over his role in Sunday's vital match took another twist. United thought they would be without their star striker, because he is currently involved in Trinidad and Tobago's Gold Cup campaign in Los Angeles.
But Yorke has now agreed to an exhausting travel schedule which will allow him to play in the top-of-the-table Premiership showdown.
He has taken a 13-hour flight back to England to meet up with his clubmates. And if Trinidad and Tobago reach the semi-finals of the Gold Cup he will jet back to the US straight after the game on Sunday.
However, there is no guarantee Yorke will claim a starting role for the Leeds fixture.
The former Aston Villa frontman has struggled to rediscover his goalscoring form of last season. Reserve striker Teddy Sheringham has impressed of late and could be employed up front alongside the in-form Andy Cole. United were powerless to recall Yorke because the Concacaf tournament is Fifa-sanctioned. But manager Sir Alex Ferguson had always been confident of reaching a compromise with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation. |
