Vialli: We were spot on

Vialli said his team adopted the perfect game-plan
Chelsea boss Gianluca Vialli had nothing but praise for his players after they recorded a fantastic 3-1 win over Barcelona in the Champions League.

The Blues bagged three goals in a blistering first-half display and Vialli insisted: "We were spot on."

Portuguese star Luis Figo pulled a goal back for the Spanish giants after the break, but the Stamford Bridge chief was in no mood to criticise his team.

"You can't demand too much," said Vialli. "We played marvellously well in the first half and we scored three goals that were totally deserved.

"Playing against Barcelona you can't be perfect - they have a great system. They scored one, but we scored three and I think it's enough to start with.

"We will see in two weeks' time whether we are capable of doing it when we play there.

"We had our plans tonight and I think they worked, especially in the first half.

"Before the match, I wasn't expecting us to score three goals and that we did is down to the players because they played so well. Everyone was spot on."

Barca boss 'not disappointed'

Barcelona coach Louis Van Gaal insisted his team still had a chance of progressing to the last four.

He said: "It's quite bad but I can't be disappointed by the way we played.

"It was a good performance by Chelsea. They played very well and took advantage of their opportunities but we can do the same.

"The goal gives us a chance. We played against Valencia, who played a similar way to Chelsea, and we beat them 3-0 at the Nou Camp. We succeeded then, why can't we do it against Chelsea?

"I'm confident we can reach the next round but it will be difficult because Chelsea are a good team. They battled for their life."
