Kinkladze: 40,000 a week for the Georgian forward

Georgiou Kinkladze has completed his 5m transfer to Dutch champions Ajax from Second Division Manchester City.

The Georgian forward will be in the European Champions Cup with Ajax, who are reportedly paying him about 40,000 a week.

Despite Kinkladze's spectacular goals, City were relegated under coach Joe Royle after finishing second from last in Division One.

It made it a grim finish the season for the city of Manchester because United lost the Premier League title to Arsenal.

"Whenever I have free time I will try to come back and watch Manchester City," Kinkladze said.

"It's a massive club and I hope they can get back where they belong.

"I will miss City's fans. I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years here. I love the fans and the club. I hope they can win Division Two and get back to the top."
