Brazilian eyes up Gunners
Edu and Fernando Redondo
Edu swapping Brazil for Highbury?
Brazilian star Edu says he has signed a deal to join English club Arsenal.

The 22-year-old midfielder says that the Gunners have agreed a 6.5m fee with his club Corinthians, and he will be offered a 20,000 weekly wage on a five-year deal.

Arsenal have been closely monitoring the young star for some time and despite there being doubts about whether he would be able to obtain a work permit, Edu is confident the move will go through.

"It's incredible that they are willing to pay so much for me.

"I haven't played for Brazil yet, but they have signed me on a five-year contract worth a lot of money," Edu revealed.

Money

"Even my coaches at Corinthians are surprised at the kind of money the English are prepared to pay.

"I never expected to be leaving Brazil. I'm flying to London to have a medical and taking my brother as my adviser," he added.

It is also reported Arsene Wenger is close to signing fellow Brazilian Edmilson, following problems early in June with his work permit.
