Motherwell tie called off

Motherwell must try for a fifth time to reach round four

Fans were left disappointed when Motherwell's Scottish Cup third-round replay with Arbroath was postponed just over an hour before kick-off due to a waterlogged Fir Park pitch.

The clubs will try again on Wednesday to clear the tie at the fifth attempt.

But Motherwell officials are concerned that may not be possible then, with snow forecast overnight.

Well manager Billy Davies said: "We are bitterly disappointed - we did everything possible to get the tie on.

"We took the covers off shortly after 5pm but when the referee kicked the ball about during his pitch inspection around 6.30 he put the game off."
