Sousa dropped for United tie
Sousa has been dropped for the United clash
Paulo Sousa will miss Inter Milan's crunch Champions' League clash with Manchester United, after being dropped for criticising his own team.
The controversial Portuguese midfielder slammed Inter coach Mircea Lucescu for "lacking any kind of game plan" in a pre-match interview on Monday.
"It's not enough to send 11 players onto the pitch and say to them 'play'," Sousa said.
The skilful midfielder, who has won two previous European Cups with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, added that he did not expect Inter to overturn the two goal deficit in the return leg.
Lucescu retaliated, claiming he did not want anyone in his side who did not believe Inter could win the tie.
"I'm not calling him up because if he doesn't believe in our qualification, then it is futile to play him," said the Romanian coach.
"Wednesday's match is far too important for Inter."
