Looks Like Trouble, ridden by Richard Johnson, won Thursday's 280,000 Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup.

As expected, chasing's blue riband was run at a break-neck pace with Gloria Victis leading the way.

The novice, which fractured its leg after a heavy fall, was later put down.

Gloria Victis was briefly headed with a circuit to go but was, despite repeatedly jumping to his right, back in front at the second water with Looks Like Trouble beginning to take closer order after a bad mistake first time round.

I don't really know the circumstances surrounding it but I was very lucky to get the ride.

Tony McCoy and Gloria Victis maintained their advantage until approaching two out, where Florida Pearl took over with Looks Like Trouble in contention, followed by See More Business.

Gloria Victis suffered a bad fall when tiring at the penultimate fence and it developed into a straight battle between the Irish raider and Chance's eight-year-old.

But Richard Johnson conjured a fine leap out of Looks Like Trouble at the last which sealed the issue and the 9-2 shot drew impressively clear up the hill to score by five lengths from Florida Pearl (9-2) with Strong Promise (20-1) - second to Cool Dawn two years ago - a neck away third.

See More Business lacked the speed to get in a blow to the leaders in the closing stages but to his credit he kept on to finish fourth.

Johnson was understandably delighted after the race.

It was the fast ground that was the bitter reality for our horse ... it was too much for him.

Paul Nicholls - trainer of See More Business
"I don't really know the circumstances surrounding it but I was very lucky to get the ride," he said. "Still what the heck it feels brilliant!"

Winning owner Tim Collins said: "I wish I could say but I am absolutely numb with joy and delight.

Paul Nicholls, trainer of See More Business, was philosophical in defeat.

"So what if no horse has won two successive Gold Cups' since 1972 but those are statistics it was the fast ground that was the bitter reality for our horse ... it was too much for him," he said.
