Tyson sets sights on ring return

Mike Tyson: His record-breaking career has stalled in recent years

Mike Tyson looks set for a comeback in the ring in August, after being granted permission to train by court officials.

The former world heavyweight champion was paroled last month until February - after being jailed for assault in a road rage incident.

Tyson, boxing's biggest box office draw of the last two decades, has now been told he can train in Arizona for a fight in Nevada later in the summer.

However, there are still strict regulations governing his movements.

He must continue with anger-management counselling, as well as meeting his community service requirements while in Arizona.

Training again

"I'm sure he's looking forward to getting back into training and boxing," said Paul Kemp, an attorney for the fallen champion.

Kemp said he did not know when Tyson planned to leave for Arizona.

He must arrive at the latest by Monday, when he is to report to the Maricopa County Adult Probation Department in Phoenix, said a spokesman for the Arizona Supreme Court.

Tyson last fought in January, when he was behind on all three cards before he knocked out Francois Botha in the fifth round in Las Vegas.

His illustrious career, which began in sensational style in the 1980s when he became the youngest ever world heavyweight champion, has been stalled in recent years.

First he was jailed for rape, then he was banned from the ring following his infamous ear-biting incident against Evander Holyfield, and the latest prison sentence has prevented him from fighting for the past six months.
