See More Business pulls away to win the Gold Cup
Outsider See More Business has won the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The victory marks a Cheltenham double triumph for trainer Paul Nicholls and jockey Mick Fitzgerald, with the duo also winning Wednesday's Champion Chase on Call Equiname.
The 3.75 mile chase was led in its early stages by Double Thriller and despite all the pre-race hype, the highly rated grey, Teeton Mill, was forced to pull up before the horses had completed the first lap.
It emerged after the race that the future of Teeton Mill was in doubt because of what could be a repetitive injury.
Richard Dunwoody found that Florida Pearl lacked the stamina to go with his guile, and so it became a battle between Ballistic and Business as the two jumped the final fence almost neck and neck.
And it was Fitzgerald who managed to draw a few more yards from his horse to take the Festival's biggest prize by a very narrow margin.
The jockey then offered his understated view of the afternoon's events.
"All I have done is the steering, really."
