Missing Thorpe is fined

Graham Thorpe: Not an ideal preparation

Graham Thorpe has been fined 1000 by England for failing to attend a function with Kent members at an indoor school in Canterbury.

The Surrey left-hander, along with his teamates and players of every nation competing in the World Cup, is committed to attending that event along with many other events.

The discussion was taken between David Graveney and coach Graham Gooch and Thorpe has requested the 1,000 be donated to charity.

"Graham has apologised to myself and the rest of the team," explained Graveney.

Graham Thorpe: "I'll be playing it one game at a time"
"It's an important matter because it's crucial we are a collective team both on and off the field.

"He has taken a full part in practice today and it is not something that will be held against him. Being together as a team is crucial to a success and I'm sure it will not be repeated.
