Afghanistan president to meet Barack Obama for talks


Hamid Karzai is expected to discuss the issue of civilian casualties in Afghanistan when he meets US President Barack Obama at the White House on Wednesday.

At a State Department reception in his honour, President Karzai paid tribute to US soldiers injured fighting in his country.

At the same event US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said there was a long-term commitment to his country.
